Otitis is one of the leading causes of hearing loss in infants.
The first years of life are one of the most fragile stages of health, and babies also have logical difficulties expressing their discomfort. Therefore, parents must pay special attention to detect any problems that may arise. Otitis is one of the main causes of hearing loss in babies.
How is otitis, which can cause hearing loss, treated?
Specifically, the most common form is an infection (often bacterial) that affects the middle or inner ear. This is especially common in babies aged 6 to 18 months.
The main symptom is pain, which the child expresses mainly by crying.
Of course, this is a rather unspecific sign, because babies cry for almost everything (hunger, attachment, pain, etc.).

So pay attention to details such as repeated touching of one ear or discharge from one of the ear canals.
How is otitis, which can cause hearing loss, treated?
If we suspect that our baby may have otitis media, the first thing we should do is go to the pediatrician.
Otitis media is one of the leading causes of hearing loss in children, especially when there is mucus in the ear canal, so it must be treated to prevent irreversible damage.
During the consultation, the pediatrician will confirm that you have otitis media, determine its cause (bacterial, viral, or more rarely caused by other factors), and prescribe the appropriate treatment for each condition.
Otitis is the most common cause of hearing loss in children and can lead to other serious consequences, such as chronic ear disease.
It may present clinically as episodes of recurrent acute otitis media or, in many cases, it may be ignored because it causes no harm.
